After a few years of slowing sales, The Pop Shoppe shares stop being traded on February 3rd. Some tears are shed. A few independent stores tough it out for a couple more years before eventually calling it a day.

The PoP Shoppe can not compete with new 2L PET (plastic) bottles. Raw material cost less in comparison to glass bottles, lighter to ship across the country, no worries about broken glass and potential glass cuts, one stop shop available at the grocery stores, yada yada yada.
